Tree surveys aren't all the same, and commissioning the wrong type can mean paying for information that doesn't actually meet what you need it for.

Two of the most common are a tree condition survey and a BS5837 survey.

Understanding Your Responsibilities as a Tree Owner

Twenty-eight years is a significant milestone for any business. For Beechwood, it represents almost three decades of changing markets, new challenges, growing capabilities and, perhaps most importantly, people who have developed alongside the business.

Things I’ve Learned in 28 Years of Building Beechwood

On 1 September 2026, Beechwood turns 28.

When I started the business in 1998, I certainly didn’t have a 28-year plan.

Like most businesses, it has been built through a mixture of opportunity, mistakes, good decisions, bad decisions, great people, difficult periods and a lot of learning along the way.

Looking back, these are probably the 28 lessons that stand out most.

Yes. Some companies provide both tree surgery and landscaping services, allowing clients to manage several aspects of their outdoor site through one contractor.

This can be particularly useful for commercial properties, estates, public spaces, schools and development sites where tree work and landscaping often overlap.

When it comes to tree surgery, you may have heard arborists refer to the “3 Ds”: diseased, dying and dangerous.

These three terms are often used when assessing the condition and safety of a tree. They can indicate that a tree requires closer inspection, remedial work or, in some circumstances, removal.

However, being described as diseased, dying or dangerous does not automatically mean that a tree needs to be felled.
