Supporting the Future of Arboriculture

As the leading voice for arboriculture in the UK, the Arboricultural Association plays a vital role in setting the standards, driving the conversations, and shaping the future of our profession.

For decades, the Association has been at the heart of the tree care community, providing training, support, and recognition for arborists while also promoting a better understanding of trees across society.

But behind the day-to-day operations and outward-facing work, the organisation is guided by a dedicated Board of Trustees.

These individuals bring a wealth of professional knowledge and experience to ensure the Association remains financially stable, strategically focused, and true to its mission: inspiring, supporting, and promoting the tree care community for the benefit of all.

Beechwood’s MD Elected as Trustee

At this year’s AGM, Beechwood Trees & Landscapes Ltd is proud to share that our Managing Director, Simon Rotheram, has been elected as a Trustee of the Arboricultural Association.

This appointment is both an honour and a reflection of Simon’s commitment to raising standards across the arboricultural profession. Voted in by peers within the industry, it highlights the trust placed in him to contribute at the highest level of governance.

Simon will join fellow Trustees in helping guide the Association’s strategic direction, ensuring it continues to support arborists, promote excellence, and advocate for trees and green spaces across the UK.

What Trustees Do

Trustees carry both legal and strategic responsibilities. Their duties include:

  • Ensuring the Association complies with charity and company law.

  • Safeguarding the organisation’s reputation and values.

  • Providing strategic direction through policy, goals, and performance oversight.

  • Overseeing resources to ensure they are used responsibly and in line with the Association’s charitable objectives.

Each Trustee brings their own skills and perspective to the Board. In Simon’s case, his experience leading Beechwood, a business built on professionalism, safety, sustainability, and growth, will add valuable insight to the Association’s work.

Why It Matters

In arboriculture, leadership isn’t only about delivering projects, it’s also about support of the profession itself. By serving as a Trustee, Simon will play a role in:

  • Strengthening industry standards.

  • Supporting training and development for arborists.

  • Advocating for the wider value of trees within society.

  • Ensuring the Association remains financially and strategically robust.

Looking Ahead

All of us at Beechwood are proud of Simon’s appointment and what it represents, not only for him personally but for our team and the wider industry.

His election is a reminder of the importance of contributing to the profession we work within, ensuring that arboriculture continues to thrive for future generations.
