Why Employee Development is One of Our Top Priorities for 2025
At Beechwood Trees and Landscapes Ltd, we’ve always believed our people are our greatest asset. That’s why, in 2025, one of our three company-wide priorities is employee development, standing proudly alongside carbon reduction and innovation.
We’ve kicked off the year with a refreshed training and development plan—and it’s already making a difference.
Our Approach to CPD
Every employee, regardless of role or experience, has been allocated an annual CPD (Continuing Professional Development) budget. It’s our way of showing that we believe in their potential and are ready to back it with real support. We want to give our team the tools and knowledge to grow not just in their current roles, but for whatever comes next in their careers.

As Richard Branson famously said:
“Train people well enough so they can leave, treat them well enough so they don’t want to.”
This has stuck with us. Too often, we hear from new starters that their previous employers didn’t prioritise training or offer progression pathways.
We’re determined to be different!
What We've Done So Far
Here are just a few examples of the development already underway in 2025:
Our apprentices have been through specialist climbing and chainsaw skills training, with structured mentorship in place.
First aid and refresher training has been completed across all field teams.
Office staff have undertaken training and project management software and business courses
Several team members with LOLER, PTI, and other specialist qualifications
What’s Next
Looking ahead, our development goals include:
Launching a bespoke in-house leadership programme tailored to arboriculture and landscaping.
Providing innovation workshops to encourage new ideas from every level of the business.
Introducing regular ‘Lunch & Learn’ sessions across departments to share knowledge and spark collaboration.
We’re proud of the progress so far, and even prouder of the culture it’s helping to build.
