Elizabeth Park: Supporting the Transformation of a Local Green Space

The transformation of Elizabeth Park in Leamington Spa is continuing, with Beechwood Trees and Landscapes supporting McVeigh Construction, the Principal Contractor, as a specialist landscaping subcontractor on the scheme.

The project has involved a significant programme of landscaping and environmental improvements, creating new planting areas and enhancing the park for the local community.

As part of the works, the Beechwood team helped prepare the site for its new planting scheme, using our specialist grounds and arboricultural equipment to clear and prepare the area. Having cleared away unmanaged trees, vegetation, rubble and stone,  the space for fresh landscaping and planting was created out of previous waste ground.

The planting programme has introduced 1217 whips, 200 metres of hedge and 67 trees across the park. Areas of the site have also been meadow seeded, contributing to a more varied and natural landscape.

With the initial landscaping works complete, the focus has now shifted to helping the new landscape establish and maintaining the park as the planting develops.

Beechwood has already carried out a programme of maintenance across the site, including a full grass cut, watering the newly planted trees and re-mulching around the trees. The team has also strimmed areas where required and carried out vegetation management to keep the site under control.

This ongoing maintenance is an important part of establishing a newly landscaped site. Newly planted trees and vegetation need continued care, while surrounding growth needs to be managed to allow the new landscape to develop successfully.

The next stage of Beechwood's involvement will see the team continue supporting McVeigh Construction through ongoing vegetation management, including continued strimming and spraying across the park.

For Beechwood, the project highlights the importance of looking beyond the initial landscaping works. Creating a new landscape is only the beginning. Continued maintenance and management are essential to helping planting establish and ensuring the finished environment continues to provide value for the local community.
