Transforming Spaces Through Collaboration: A New Beginning for Community Green Spaces

At Beechwood Trees and Landscapes, we believe that great spaces are created through collaboration, and this latest project with WHG is a perfect example of what can be achieved when organisations and communities come together with a shared vision.

Working alongside WHG and local residents, we have supported the transformation of a green space that had previously been impacted by anti-social behaviour and fly tipping.

What was once an underused and neglected area has now been reclaimed and reimagined as a safe, welcoming environment for residents to enjoy.

This project marks the first of approximately 50 similar sites that WHG aims to revitalise, creating meaningful spaces that not only improve the local environment but also bring communities together.

Designed for People and Nature

The space has been thoughtfully developed with both accessibility and sustainability in mind. Key features include:

  • Wildlife-focused planting to support biodiversity

  • Fruit trees and herbs that residents can access and use

  • Raised beds to encourage community involvement in growing

  • A pergola to create a focal point and usable space

  • Accessible footpaths to ensure the space can be enjoyed by those with reduced mobility

This approach ensures the space is not only visually improved but also functional, inclusive and beneficial to both people and nature.

A Shared Effort

A key part of this project has been the involvement of the local community. Recently, our team joined WHG and residents on site to complete the final stages of planting. The day included planting the remaining trees and vegetation, painting bird boxes and spending time explaining how the space will develop over time.

This level of engagement is what turns a project into something more, giving residents a sense of ownership and pride in the space they helped create.

What’s Next

The final stage of the project will see wildflower meadow seed introduced, further enhancing biodiversity and creating a vibrant, natural landscape as the seasons change.

While this site is now nearing completion, it represents just the beginning. With around 50 locations identified, this initiative has the potential to make a significant, lasting impact across communities.

Creating Lasting Value

Projects like this go beyond landscaping. They are about creating safer environments, encouraging community interaction, supporting wildlife, and improving wellbeing.

We are proud to be working alongside WHG on this initiative and look forward to supporting the delivery of many more spaces like this in the future.

Because when communities and organisations work together, the results speak for themselves.
