Why this is different
Most adverts list tasks. Ours offers a clear, paid pathway from leading a crew to becoming a Senior Arborist / Technical Lead, with time boxed for training, real mentorship, and recognition as you step up.
What you’ll lead
A 2–4 person crew delivering pruning, reductions, dismantles and site safety to AA-aligned standards.
Daily team briefings, dynamic risk assessment, and immaculate site set-up/close-down.
Quality control: you’ll sign off work to BS 3998 recommendations and our internal benchmarks.
Client updates on site (polite, clear, professional) and tight liaison with Ops.
Coaching juniors: you’ll pass on good habits, climbing efficiency, rigging logic, tool care.
Your 90-day plan (so you know what “good” looks like)
30 days: Competent crew lead; clean paperwork; zero at-fault safety issues.
60 days: Running complex days unassisted; mentoring a junior on a defined skill.
90 days: Trusted on high-impact jobs; measurable gains in productivity and quality.
Progression you can bank on
Team Leader (you now): £35–38k — full crew/site responsibility.
Senior Arborist (target 6–12 months): £38–42k — lead complex dismantles, mentor TLs, support audits/training.
Optional routes after Senior: Ops Trainer, Client/Contracts, or Technical Lead (rigging, MEWP, utility, or BS5837).
Every step has a documented skills matrix, a review gate, and a salary band. No mysteries.
Training and kit
Structured CPD: refreshers + advanced modules (rigging, MEWP, rescue drills, SSSTS, comms & leadership).
Paid time for rescue practice and toolbox talks.
Modern climbing and rigging kit; maintained fleet; MEWPs where appropriate; LOLER managed.
Support for additional units (e.g., CS40/41, IPAF, Streetworks) aligned to your pathway.
What you’ll bring
Strong production climber with NPTC/Lantra core units (CS30/31/38/39 or equivalents).
You’ve run a small team, delivered briefings, and handled client chats on site.
Calm under pressure, tidy sites, zero-compromise on safety.
Full UK driving licence (towing or MEWP helpful, not essential).
What we offer
Transparent pay bands tied to signed-off competencies (no waiting in limbo).
Recognition: stage certificates, promotion posts, and spot awards for safety/client praise.
A supportive culture, no blame, just learning and getting better together.
Holiday, pension, and all the essentials, plus the satisfaction of doing it properly.
