27 Years of Beechwood

Our Journey and the Road Ahead

September 2025 marks a proud milestone for Beechwood Trees and Landscapes Ltd, 27 years since the business was founded.

What started back in 1998 as a small, ambitious company named Beechwood Tree Services has since grown into one of the UK’s most trusted names in arboriculture and landscaping.

From Humble Beginnings to a National Contractor

The company was founded in September 1998 by Managing Director Simon Rotheram, whose vision was to provide high-quality, reliable, and professional tree care.

The early days were focused on local tree surgery, driven by passion, hard work, and a belief that doing things the right way would set Beechwood apart.

By 2010, the company had expanded beyond its tree surgery roots and was formally incorporated as Beechwood Trees and Landscapes Ltd, reflecting the wider range of services we now deliver across arboriculture, landscaping, highways, housing, utilities, and local authority contracts.

Today, we are proud to be a contractor with both the capacity to deliver nationwide projects and the values of a family-run business.

Arb Approved Since 2009

In 2009, Beechwood became an Arboricultural Association Approved Contractor, a standard that demonstrates our commitment to professionalism, safety, and best practice.

For the past 15 years, this accreditation has been a cornerstone of our business, reassuring clients that we meet the highest levels of quality and compliance.

It is a badge we wear with pride, not just as recognition of our standards but as a responsibility to lead by example within the industry.

Investing in People and the Future of Arboriculture

While we have achieved much in nearly three decades, our focus has always remained on people, the skilled arborists, team leaders, managers, and support staff who make Beechwood what it is.

Like many in the industry, we recognise the skills shortage in arboriculture. Rather than wait for change, we’ve chosen to be part of the solution by training and developing the next generation of arborists and leaders.

Through our structured career development pathways, apprenticeships, and ongoing training investment, we are building future team leaders, technical mentors, and operational specialists.

Our aim is not only to sustain our own business but also to help strengthen the arboricultural profession as a whole.

Looking Ahead: Innovation, Training, and Industry Leadership

The next chapter of Beechwood will be about:

  • Continuing to develop our people through structured training and leadership pathways.

  • Supporting innovation in arboriculture, whether that’s through sustainable practices, technology, or fresh approaches to old challenges.

  • Playing an active role in raising industry standards, including Managing Director Simon Rotheram’s recent election as a Trustee of the Arboricultural Association.

Being part of the AA in this capacity is both an honour and a responsibility, an opportunity to contribute directly to shaping the future of arboriculture in the UK.

A Message of Thanks

As we reflect on the last 27 years, we want to thank our employees, clients, and industry colleagues who have been part of the journey.

From small beginnings to national operations, from planting trees to delivering complex infrastructure contracts, every step forward has been shaped by teamwork, trust, and shared values.

The Beechwood story is still being written, and we are excited for what the next decades will bring.

With strong roots, a clear vision, and a passion for trees and people, we believe the best is yet to come.
