Environmental

Beechwood Trees and Landscapes Ltd recognise that protection and enhancement of the environment is of prime importance and that this company impacts on the rural and built environment.

Env 1

We have implemented the ISO14001 Envronmental Management System, which means we identify aspects of our business that impact on the environment and understand the environmental laws that are relevant to our situation. We then produce objectives for improvement and a management programme to achieve them, with regular reviews for continual improvement.

The achievement of a high standard of environmental awareness throughout the company is not only essential to assist in sustaining and keeping in balance the environment and environmental resource, but also results in healthier and more acceptable conditions for work and social activity.

Environmental awareness assists in the enhancement of the company's reputation as not only a caring employer, but also as a company that is aware of the prospective impact of its activity on the built environment. Such awareness creates improvements from which the general public, of this and successive generations will benefit. It also enhances the company's reputation as a contracting group with an environmental conscience and a leader in what is a very recently developing field.

It is the responsibility of both management and employees to work together to achieve this environmental goal. With this in mind Beechwood Tree Services will ensure we comply with the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and all other domestic legislation concerned with the protection of natural resources and the external environment. The company will prepare and enforce policies which, as far as is reasonably practicable and take into account project and client requirements.

Recycling

As part of our environmental policy we strive to run as a sustainable business and recycle through all aspects of our work.

Tree maintenance and landscape works generates large quantities of green waste such as woodchip and timber; we are currently recycling 95% of our waste and aim to increase this up to 100%.

We are currently supplying large quantities of wood chip to biomass facilities throughout the UK, for the generation of minimum-carbon power plants utilised both in large-scale electricity generation and smaller, on-site industrial power plants.

We convert all hardwood timber into logs using our firewood processor, all timber is seasoned and ready to burn on open fires, log burners, chimineers etc. and can be purchased and delivered.
