Trial of the Makita DUH751Z 18V 75cm Hedge Trimmer.
Beechwood Trees and Landscapes Ltd were pleased to be asked by Mark Earls from Makita to trial this hedge cutter. We welcomed him, along with Mr Oritaka the Director from Japan and Mr Hashizumi the UK Assistant MD to one of our sites, to see our operatives putting the machine through its paces.
This cordless hedge trimmer is powered by a single 18 volt LXT battery. It has a 75cm (750mm) blade length and a maximum cutting diameter of 23.5mm.
The three-speed selection switch is very helpful and gives the operator ultimate control for a variety of hedges.
New triple-edged cutting teeth are designed to easily catch and firmly hold branches. Curved blades reduce friction resistance to suppress energy loss. Due to the low resistance run time is increased.
New blade design with reduced friction increases runtime
Equipped with Battery protection circuit: designed to protect the battery from damages due to over-discharge, high temperature or overload current
Automatic shutdown: automatically switches off after 60 seconds of being idle, which prolongs the life of the battery.
Three-speed switch for speed setting: Easy adjustment of speed based on the work environment and method of use
Brushless motor delivers 4,400 SPM for faster cutting
Variable 3-speed (High: 0-4,400 / Medium: 0-3,600 / Low: 0-2,000 SPM) design for optimum speed control
Constant speed control maintains constant speed under load
Electric brake for increased productivity and operator safety
5 position rotating rear handle with ergonomic soft grip
Reverse button allows the blade to be removed from a jam

The overall feedback from our tree surgeons was that this is a well balanced machine with plenty of power to complete the more ornamental hedgerow and shrub trimming.
The company decision to move into battery powered tools, means we reduce the noise, vibration and fumes exposure to our operatives.
